Most recent development at borwickfishing.co.uk is the installation of bio-security measures to guard against the spread of disease. Anglers will see baths containing disinfectant at the entrance to the fishery and are requested to dip all nets on entering and leaving the site. The baths contain Virkon an anti-viral disinfectant thought to be the most effective against Koi Herpes Virus (KHV) and even Bird Flu. These measures are recommended in the Institute of Fishery Management “Code for the Management of Intensively Stocked Fisheries” which borwickfishing.co.uk supports.

Borwickfishing.co.uk also supports Fisheries and Angling Conservation Trust (FACT)guidelines on first using non-lethal methods of Cormorant protection. To this end we have doubled the number of fish refuges on site, installing another 10 in Griffish (marked with decoy ducks).

Planning permission is in place for two major developments which will improve anglers’ enjoyment. First to happen will be the construction of a noise bund along the M6 motorway which is planned to commence over the winter. The noise bund will be about as high as the existing trees and, after the initial disruption is over, will be planted with new trees. This should make the the motorway much less obtrusive as well as providing shelter from the prevailing westerly winds. This will be followed by a permanent office and café providing more facilities for anglers. Completion of both scheduled for 2008.
