The cold snap at the end of October has slowed down the fishing at borwickfishing.co.uk.  By the end of October, the colour had dropped out of all the waters as the fish slowed down with the plummeting temperatures.  Fortunately, the fish soon adjust to the changes and within a few days, in early November, catches were improving with 50lb catches being reported. Tactics need to change though. Light feeding is the order of the day with maggots and caster scoring well. The fish tend to be in deeper water too, with feeder fishing the best option if the water is shallow close in.  Burn, The Last Blast, Dewhurst Deeps, Gatenby and Griffish are usually sheltered from the prevailing wind and fish well.

There are some “specials” on offer at borwickfishing.co.uk to bring a little winter cheer.  Such has been the success of the take a friend fishing for free offer, introduced in September, that the offer has been extended until the end of December 2008. Details and forms are available from the website by clicking here or from the bailiff, Jimmy White, on site.

For those do a bit of specimen Carp or Pike fishing, there is a special offer on for the borwickfishing.co.uk syndicate, which gives exclusive access to Jimmy’s Lake. Membership runs from 15th March to 14th March following but anglers joining now can start fishing right away giving 18 months fishing for the price of 12. Syndicate membership costs £350 but some pleasure anglers fishing not much more than once a week take it out just to fish the smaller pools. Click here for more information.

borwickfishing.co.uk is also introducing Gift Vouchers for in time for Christmas. Vouchers start at just £6 for a single day or £16 for a 24hour session and are available for any number of days – and we will throw in an extra day’s fishing with each voucher – even for a single day. Worth dropping hints to the wife before Christmas?

Coupled with the FREE beginners tackle loan already in place, it’s a great chance to introduce a friend or relative to fishing. (For a £5 returnable deposit, you get the loan of a 4metre whip and a rig and bait, which the visitor keeps, costs just £2).

Finally, an update on our rare visiting Osprey. On the third day of its stay, it was joined by another Osprey and after a few minutes circling, the pair set off in a very determined southerly direction, presumably on route for Africa, so that’s two to look out for, next Spring and Autumn!
