The Big Common is the
first of the recently stocked 30lb plus Carp to be caught from Jimmy’s Lake and
at 33lb 8oz it breaks the record for the biggest fish landed
to date at borwickfishing.co.uk. It’s fitting that the captor was Andy Peel
from nearby Lancaster, the first member of the borwickfishing .co.uk syndicate. Since that capture the fish has been landed another twice,
once at the same weight and just 4oz lighter at 33lb
4oz. Andy followed up his catch by taking
original resident “Popeye” at 28lb some 5lbs heavier than the first time it was
caught at 23lb. “Popeye” has come out another twice at 28lb. On the latest
occasion it fell to borwickfishing.co.uk regular, Liam Briggs as part of a 5
fish catch which included newly stocked “Bullet” also at 28lb as well as
Mirrors of 18lb, 14lb and 13lb and a Common of 22lb, 2 days later, followed up
by Commons of 26lb and 21lb and MIrrors of 20lb, 17lb and 13lb. Stuart Taylor
had a superb home grown Common of 28lb, another fish that is likely to top the
magic 30lb in the next few months.
Following his 5 fish catch, Liam Briggs
returned two days later to do even better. He was soon into some fine Commons
landing fish of 26lb and 25lb and a very long fish of 22lb which had obviously
just spawned and is one to watch as it piles the weight back on. The next day
he caught Moonscale for the second time. She too had spawned and weighed just
30lb, some 3lb 8oz down on the last time Liam caught her. Last year she put on an incredible 9lb 8oz
from her post-spawning weight. Moonscale took Liam’s total 5 day catch to 22
fish , including a 7lb 2oz Tench. Just Days later The Big Common was out again
to Ryan Dewhirst at 34lb.
